LEXILOO

Hi, my foster parents sometimes call me Lexi Loo Magoo because it appears that I am squinting. I can see fine though, but it is a little difficult to see around those wrinkles covering my eyes! I am about 2 years old, and I have a black horsecoat with a generous amount of natural brown highlights. My foster parents found me about a year ago after my previous owners had dropped me off along side a busy highway. They were kind enough to rescue me and take me in until I could find a forever home. I have stayed with them a little longer than planned since both my hips were bad from birth and I had always been in pain from them. I am happy to say that now I feel a lot less pain since both my hips have been repaired via surgery. Now that I am close to fully recovered and am running all around the house and yard, I am ready to go to my forever home. I get along okay with my two foster brothers and my friends at the dog park, but it is probably best for me to live in a one dog house. I love to rule the roost and have my way! I want all the food, bones, and attention for myself but have been learning to share. I don't care for cats much, but I definitely love my people. I follow them all over the house and give them kisses whenever they let me, which is often since they can't resist my face and squishy lips. I also like to curl up next to them in bed or crawl up on their lap when they are reading or watching television. So if you are currently lonely with an empty lap, I would be ideal for you!

CHEDDAR

“Woof…Did that (2) legged person just say that my new name was Cheddar?  Hey lady what on earth would make you think that name fits me? Can’t you see that I am a Shar Pei…what could you possibly be thinking? Yea, yea I am listening …this is going to be good I am sure.
Oh so you think my fawn horse coat coloring reminds you of the pale yellow color of cheddar (not really), and  like cheddar at 3-4 years old age has only made me better (well maybe) and like cheddar originating in England and now being love all over the world, Shar Pei originated in China and now are also love worldwide (I’ll buy that) and like cheddar although the appearance might not be perfect it does not distract from the quality (ok, tell me more) and like there is no better cheese than cheddar there is no better dog than a Shar Pei (now you’re talking)…call me Cheddar!”
And for all you cheese and Shar Pei lovers out there let me tell you a little bit about myself.  My former owners protected me from heartworms, made sure I was spayed and cared for me but they didn’t realize that I really wasn’t meant to be a “backyard dog”.  So my life was spent outside away from my people and the lifestyle that I was meant to have.  My coat carries some minor scars and marks from my life in the backyard but they don’t distract from the great dog that I am.  NASPR has made sure that I am current on vaccinations and ready to be adopted.  I am a big girl at 55-60 lbs. with and even bigger heart.
I need a family that will open their hearts and their doors so that I can learn the comforts of living inside, out of the elements and receive the attention and interaction that we Shar Pei so long for. And I promise like the cheese once introduced to me you can’t help but love “Cheddar”.

MANDY

Mandy was found stray with her brother Rudy (see Rudy on this page).  She is obviously a girl who knows what she wants and doesn’t mind showing her true self.  Mandy’s all about a little a little food, a little love and a good place to lay her head.  At approximately 2 yrs, she is playful and outgoing.  When evening comes, she waits patiently for her dinner and then gracefully gets on her beloved Kuranda bed, crosses her paws and lets out a big sigh of contentment.  She LOVES that bed!  She is also a very neat and clean dog who has never had an accident in her run at the NASPR shelter.  Many is happy, healthy and ready to go.  The only baggage this girl carries is her Kuranda bed!!!
