Will you be one of our Guardian Angels?

BOBBI

Bobbi is a female shar pei and a senior at that.  When we got word from the shelter that she was in need of our help ...we could not say no.  Her owner was evicted and Bobbi left behind......in pain from her eyes that are in need of immediate help ....she is going to the Seattle Eye Specialist to see what we can do for Bobbi and if we can help her keep maybe any eye sight and relieve her pain.  She is such a trooper and totally ignores her pain and just wants to lick your hand and give you big pei smiles and SO happy to hear your voice and loves to get treats.
Bobbi is a senior that will more than likely need one or both eyes removed and we realize that makes her not a huge candidate for adoption but we could not say no to this sweet girl and even if you do not feel that you cannot handle a special needs shar pei please open your heart to making a donation so that we can pay for all of her vet needs and care for the future.
We will update her progress as much as possible and thank you for your warm wishes.

ZANI

We just got Zani in and she is a beautiful purebred red dilute shar pei that is probably around 5 years old.  She is house trained but needs a doggy door until she is comfortable in her surroundings.  She loves her person and is a great pal.  She rides well in the car and gets along with other dogs.  We will update her ad when we get to know her better.

DIOGE

My name is Dioge....get it...ha ha D-O-G ;o)  My life started out good and now look at me!!! 6 years old and I am a wreck....my poor coat........I guess my owner could not afford to take me to the vet or feed me good food.
I am already looking so much better since on grain free food...I just know I will be my handsome self again soon!!  I actually lived with cats and dogs are okay too.  I have lots of manners and am a good boy...house trained, crate trained etc  I just got to this rescue place today so they say they are going to take me to the vet and make for sure I have no other problems!!!  It will be awhile before I get to go to a new home ...they say that I need to be my beautiful self again but if you want to get any updates just email my foster mom Kelly at K9WRINKLES@AOL.COM and she will let you know how I am doing and what the vets said about me........also I know I am going to cost the rescue peeps money and they rely on donations only...I feel bad using up all their money so if you wouldn't mind helping out that would be so extra nice......okay for now...thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In Loving Memory

Lil' Joey was found wandering the streets of Idaho last month. It appeared he'd been hanging out for a while and nobody paid much attention to this ugly scrawny little dog. He certainly didn't look perfect; he was missing much of his hair in patches, his elbows were scabbed and turned out a bit, he had a huge growth hanging off of his eye. He was so thin and his rib cage and hip bones protruded out so far, it was a wonder he was alive at all - and clearly wouldn't be for long.

When Kelly Starbuck, director of MEOW's Canine Division, heard about Joey and saw him for the first time, she thought Joey looked perfect. She saw past his physical issues and saw what he really was, a sweet dog, with a big heart, and no home. Kelly immediately made arrangements for Joey to make the long trip from Idaho to Seattle. Had she left him there, he would have been euthanized without a thought. But Kelly is the champion for Shar Peis and she wasn't going to let this one be forgotten.

Once Joey arrived, Kelly made sure that he had a thorough vet checkup. Something was clearly wrong with this boy and the blood work confirmed it - but it was inconclusive. Something was very wrong, and Joey was dying - he was just 5 years old. Kelly put the word out to the animal lover community, asking for funds for the special tests that Joey would now need to diagnose his ailment. She called it "Lil Joey's Fund."  Joey's Fund was a mere 4 days old when supporters received devastating news via the following letter from Kelly:

I have eyes full of tears having to write this email this morning.  The vets at the Vet Specialist in Lynnwood called with the horrible news yesterday afternoon.  The ultrasound revealed that Lil Joey is full of cancer.  He had a huge mass in his upper intestine, a mass in his liver, kidney & stomach.   My nightmare came true.  We were all so hopeful it was just Addison's disease.  I promptly picked him up yesterday with pain meds and after being on fluids all day (since has not eaten basically since Friday) that made him feel much more comfortable so he could have one last night sleeping in my arms.

Lil Joey brought so much love with him all 30 pounds that was left of him.  He was nothing but a dear gentlemen without a mean bone in his body.  He had such admiration for life and loved living it.  Joey I will never forget your sweet little cheek to cheek rubs and your corkscrew tail and how you marched like you where on top of the world.  Be free of pain....eat what ever you want and run through the meadows and bask in the sun........until we meet again my dear dear friend.

Lastly I want to thank each of you for your support kind words and generosity of allowing us to find out Joey's ailments so that the correct choice could be made for him.  And in honor of Joey, Cee Cee and I would like to start the "Lil Joey's Fund" for critical situations like his so that we do not have to beg in a mad rush to get support.  So any donations that are made earmarked "Lil Joey" will go into savings and be used for situations just like this one.
